How we can unfold and distort lacanian box (Lacan’s black hole), in order to allow “staging” on demand? Research will bring us to the Jacque Lacan’s trinity: Symbolic (Metaphors), Virtual (Imaginary) and Real. These three imply the fourth, the figure of The Theatre, which superimpose everything. The Theatre is that mysterious figure ‘beyond the imaginary’, that interlaces the three rings of a Borromean Knot.If we comprise these circles as functional areas, then we have 3 units which are not separable from each other and which can not exist by themselves.

In our case: Stage, Audience with or without sitting and Foyer (with backstage and administration space). Of course those elements are interwoven and it is not quite clear where one functions ends and the next starts. For example the foyer can be a sinthome.

This idea can be “extended” into 3D, as we can bring this diagram to the architectural organization of the interior space. The sketch shows how much space one function may occupy, but how at the end is it used stays of course open.
